POSITION SUMMARY
The Hyperbaric Systems Supervisor is responsible for the safe and effective operation, inspection and maintenance of the chamber system and supporting components.
LOCATION: Kuakini Medical Center
HOURS: 40 hours/week and additional On- Call shifts as needed
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

Supervises chamber personnel, develops maintenance work schedules, and provides input/recommendations to management relative to policies and functions of chamber operations.

Works closely with the Safety Director to ensure compliance with all department policies and regulatory requirements

Independently performs or causes to be performed, regularly scheduled maintenance and emergency repair, with occasional modification, of chamber system and ancillary equipment.

Maintains monthly report of hyperbaric chamber maintenance activities and submits it to the Safety Director and Medical Director

Serves as chamber operator during treatment of patients; selects appropriate chamber decompression schedule for all persons in the chamber.

May function as a Care Provider, commensurate with training

Maintains adequate spare parts and tool inventories; uses both local and national supply sources to ensure inventory supply needs are met. Maintains adequate oxygen and mixed gas supply.

Have a working knowledge of all applicable hyperbaric safety codes and maintain the system in compliance with Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Society (UHMS) accreditation standards

Coordinates with hospital staff any building deficiencies, repair or maintenance requirements for HTC leased space.

Serves as the senior technical trainer for HTC personnel, including Chamber Operators. Conducts in-service training related to technical aspects of the operation of hyperbaric chamber systems and related components

Assists in the training of Care Providers and other new hires.

Assists with coordinating facility maintenance and repairs through KMC Facilities Department in providing a clean, safe, and operational clinical facility for all patients and staff.

Participate in the call schedule for nights and weekends. Maintain continuous availability and 30 minute response time to HTC while on call.

Participates in HTC training and safety drills.

Participates in the education of fellows, residents and medical students as appropriate.

Maintains clinical certification and completes annual competencies.

Complies with all legal requirements and company policies.

Performs all other duties as assigned.
Education/Training
Minimum:
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Training as a mechanic familiar with air compressors, pipefitting, welding, and oxygen gas mixture.

Certified in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
Preferred:
-
Certified Hyperbaric Technologist
Experience
Minimum:
-
Two years of supervisory experience.
-
Four years of military or commercial diving experience specialized in chamber systems, compressors and ancillary support equipment.
Skills Knowledge
Minimum:
-
Working knowledge of compressor/engine repair, pipe fitting and tubing.
-
Working knowledge of oxygen and other gas mixture handling procedures as it pertains to chamber treatments.

Familiarity with dive tables, national codes and standards pertaining to hyperbaric chamber systems.

Familiarity with administrative and managerial procedures.
