Description
The University of Iowa Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking hyperbaric medicine faculty. Appointment rank may be at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor level and to either the tenure track, research track or clinical (non-tenure) track consistent with clinical experience and research interest.
The primary EM practice site (academic-based vs. community-based) will be determined by multiple factors to include department and applicant considerations, applicant’s qualifications and experience and needs of the overall health care system. The primary hyperbarics practice site is located at the main University Hospital where we staff a 24/7, 12-person dual-lock multiplace chamber. Call is minimal, as we have 6 HBO APPs and 1 HBO fellowship-trained physician currently on staff.
FTE split up to 50% for HBO (does not include other opportunities like wound care).
Wound care and medical directorship opportunities are available upon hire as part of the UIHC Wound Center. The wound center utilizes 2 monoplace chambers for out-patient treatments.
EM opportunities exist for involvement in Pediatric Emergency Medicine, EMS, Ultrasound, Research, Toxicology, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Critical Care, Sports Medicine, Global Medicine, Social Medicine, Hyperbarics plus many more.
Education Requirement:
- Applicants must have an MD/DO or equivalent.
- Position requires completion of an ACGME-accredited training program.
Required Qualifications:
- Applicants must be board eligible, or board certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine at the time of hire.
- The selected candidate for the position must be eligible to obtain or already hold an active Iowa medical license.
Desirable qualifications:
Formal fellowship training to include any of the following:
Pediatric Emergency Medicine, EMS, Ultrasound, Research, Toxicology, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Critical Care, Sports Medicine, Global Medicine, Hyperbarics, Social Medicine plus other pertinent programs.
